The mother of four tells us more about her company and her passion.
2010 Louise’s dream came true. The interior designers and mother of 4 children become self-employed and found their own label in Copenhagen. 10 years later, her company has been long established and delighted worldwide with it’s individual design.
1. Starting from the beginning do you always wanted to become interior designer?
I have had the need to be create for as long as I can remember.
From a very young age, I experimented with cooking and baking, which developed into small design projects later on in life. So, I think that the need to be creative together with a passion for design, led me onto the path of being an interior designer.
2. When was the moment you realized, that you want to start your own brand?
From the day I was born.
3. Have you ever had moments of fear or doubts while building up Louise Roe?
If you really want to do something, I think that you should just do it. I don’t think anyone has ever started a company without any fears or doubts, but that’s just how it is.
I have always been good at keeping my focus on the positive side, which I think you just have to do. It’s a big part of my personality, which helps me keep going.
4. What has been the most challenging as an entrepreneur?
Not having 25 hours a day.
5. Is there any decision about your business you would change if you could?
Every mistake and decision has led me to where I am today. It’s a learning curve, so don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
6. You have four kids including twins. How do you get a balance in your life between family/privacy and business?
Running a company is a lifestyle that never ends. I never stop thinking about new ideas and designs, so personally for me, everything flows together.

7. What means success to you?
Being able to do what I love. Of course, I want my business to do well, but I think of it rather as a passion than a job. No doubt that times can be stressful, but I just keep in mind that I get to create and design my own products.
8.How would describe your design style?
Sophisticated minimalism. Our designs aren’t necessarily typical Danish or Scandinavian, as I don’t want to limit myself. I think that you would find that what we get from the Danish/Scandinavian design culture, is the philosophy about creating products from real and genuine materials which are made to last forever.
9. Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get a lot of my inspiration from my surroundings, both city life but also from nature. You can find a lot of different shapes from both a building and a tree. Patterns and shapes is all around you, so I just take in inspiration from whatever I come across in my daily life.
10. What’s your favorite piece of your collection so far?
The Balloon 04 ceramic, in the limited Affogato colorway.
11. What colors and design pieces can we find in your home?
I don’t want to limit myself to a color theme or a specific design brand. Decorating my home is a never-ending process. I am always open to new ideas, but I really appreciate long lasting classics like oak wooden floors and marble. Organic and genuine materials last forever.
12. Do you have some easy advises for someone, styling an apartment without much budget?
Quality over quantity. Buying fast fashion and cheap interior products won’t last long in terms of durability or relevance. Instead, buy fewer quality products that lasts for a long time, in which you can build up from. It is better to keep the room simple.
13. Do you believe in the power of stones and crystals to get a Zen atmosphere in your home?
Not specifically. I am not very superstitious, but I believe in the power of aesthetics.
Being in beautiful surroundings brings you a lot of positive energy.
14. What is trending in 2020?
Buying more sustainable products, which last for a long time. Again, quality over quantity.
15. What are your business/design goals for the next 10 years?
I am currently dreaming of opening more Louise Roe Galleries around the world.
